Cats can experience a wide range of health conditions, from everyday concerns to more serious illnesses. Common problems include dental disease, excess weight, urinary tract issues, flea infestations,
and upper respiratory infections. More complex conditions such as kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and certain cancers like lymphoma may develop over time, especially as cats age.
Cats are also vulnerable to viral diseases including FeLV, FIV, and FIP, as well as internal parasites like roundworms and tapeworms. Some illnesses, such as ringworm, toxoplasmosis, and rabies, can even be transmitted to humans, making prevention especially important.
Routine veterinary checkups, timely vaccinations, parasite control, and proper hygiene play a major role in keeping cats healthy. Just as importantly, spotting early warning signs allows chronic conditions—like kidney disease or cancer—to be managed more effectively and improves long-term quality of life.
